WITH LAURA MOREL
This season, we challenged local blogger Laura Morel to reinvent one jumpsuit into three distinctive looks to show you how simple it can be to emulate the latest summer fashion trends at de Gruchy.
These three looks will provide you with the perfect capsule wardrobe for any holiday, or help you transition your style effortlessly from day to evening. With a range of top designer and high street labels all housed under the de Gruchy roof, finding your individual summer style is made easy. Here’s how a few accessories and some simple styling tricks can make one key investment piece look fantastic on you throughout the summer months.
ON THE GO
An easy causal look, where practicality doesn’t mean you need to sacrifice style. Pastels are a huge trend this summer, making this Oasis biker jacket appear softer and more feminine for cool evenings. Lilac in particular is top of every stylists list, especially when teamed with yellow or mustard. If you don’t fancy clashing head to toe, try a pop of colour through accessories or a statement necklace like this one from Phase Eight. Comfortable trainers from Ugg are great for running around on busy days, with the cut out design and ribbon laces adding detail. Throw in a snakeskin shopper to make this a bold and busy look. Animal print of all kinds will be hot this season, with snakeskin and leopard print becoming the new neutrals. Don’t be afraid to mix them up!
This LK Bennett jumpsuit is the perfect base to build an evening look, with wide legs and the polka dot print ticking off two major summer trends. A tie belt on the jumpsuit cinches your waist for definition, tying either to the front as a feature or pulled behind your back. We’ve teamed this with a Coast lace shirt worn as a lightweight jacket. There’s something about white lace in the summer thats feels effortlessly fresh and elegant. Make the shirt your statement piece, by keeping the rest of your colour palette subdued. This clutch from new brand arrival, Paul’s Boutique, echoes the navy of the outfit with a flash of silver from their recognisable lighting bolt motif adding a touch of luxury. Top off your look with some pewter high heels from Dune to shimmer in the setting evening sun.
Channel the French Riviera with a sophisticated holiday look that will make others weak with envy. Headscarves are a must this season, with de Gruchy stocking a large range for you to style as you wish. We chose this striped scarf from Fraas to wear as a headband, as a fun contrast to the polka dot print. Keep the look bold with further flashes of red on the shoes and bag, for a co-ordinated, put together feel. This backpack from Guess is the perfect size for travelling and will add vibrancy to any outift. Casual pumps from Geox and a crisp linen shirt from Gant finish the outfit to perfection, letting your inner style radiate out.
