Enjoy a touch of oriental flora when enjoying your tea and coffee with this Carnations mug from the Honzo Zufu collection by Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew.
In a stylish short conical shape, this ceramic mug is patterned with lilac, pink and white carnation plants on a soft green background.
The name Honzo Zufu is taken from a monumental Illustrated manual of medicinal plants by Kan’en Iwasaki (1786-1842), a Japanese botanist, zoologist, entomologist and one-time Samurai, active in Edo (modern Tokyo). The Carnations pattern is adapted from this manual, sourced from the archives of rare and historically significant artwork that is held at The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. This elegant mug also holds the prestigious Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew hallmark to finish this quality piece.
The Japanese characters on the swing tag of this Honzo Zufu mug translate to read: spring, summer, autumn, winter.
